Test results have confirmed pet meat processed at the Maffra & District Knackery Pty Ltd of Wombat Road, Boisdale, also known as Maffra District Knackery, as the source of indospicine, which caused the recent cluster of liver disease and dog deaths in Victoria.

Dog owners are reminded that they should not feed their pet fresh or frozen raw pet meat sourced from Gippsland between 31 May and 3 July. If unsure, we advise owners to contact the supplier to find out where and when the product was sourced.

Apply for alternative techniques

PrimeSafe licensees can use alternative techniques to those described in the Australian and Victorian Food Safety Standards, as long they can demonstrate the food produced is equally as safe. Dry ageing, cold smoking and high-pressure processing are examples of alternative techniques.

PrimeSafe Licences and Information are Online

PrimeSafe licences are moving online, with PrimeSafe launching an online Licence Portal on its website at the end of April. PrimeSafe will initially concentrate on supporting the licensees who need to renew their licences before 30 June 2021, to ensure they can start using the PrimeSafe Licence Portal at this renewal.
