Under the Meat Industry Act 1993, all poultry processing facilities in Victoria require a licence issued by PrimeSafe in order to operate.

PrimeSafe has the function and power to determine licence categories. Recognising the different categories of poultry production in Victoria, PrimeSafe has determined the following licence categories.
